Big Girl Kalia

Well, we finally took the plunge and put Kalia in a real bed! Until now she's been sleeping in the crib. Oliver hasn't needed it yet, because he's still sleeping in the pack and play (in a little vanity room off of the master bedroom) and it's just been easier not to worry about her getting out. But this week, Scott brought home a bed for her and we decided it was time for her to move out of the crib. It was sort of sad for me the last time that I knew I'd be putting her into her crib for night - it was like proving that she really is no longer a baby. But the fun thing with kids is that every time something comes to an end, something else fun and exciting begins! I spent the day re-organizing her room to make a spot for the bed, as well as working in the living room to make a space for the rocking chair that was coming out of her room. She kept asking what all of the commotion was about, and Scott had told her that he would bring her a bed after work, so I told her we were getting ready for her big girl bed. She was so excited!! This isn't the first time she's ever slept in a real bed though, because at the cabin she sleeps in a single bed, so I knew that it wouldn't be scary or really strange to her. She did awesome! She's had three nights out of the crib so far and she's only tried getting out of bed once, which was my biggest concern. Nap time is a bit of a different story though, so we're still working out those kinks!! Yesterday I ended up 'punishing' her for getting out (over and over) by making her nap in the crib. She cried and said "but I'm too big for the crib now!" It's good to know she likes the bed and doesn't wish to be back in the crib. It's already been a bit of a struggle getting her to nap at all lately, so I am not sure what will happen now that she can get in and out of bed so easily. For a long time yesterday all she did was get stories to read in her bed. At least she was quiet though!

Her last time sleeping in the crib
Happy to wake up in the morning
The "Before" picture of her room
"After" - all ready for Oliver to move in
Testing it out . . .
Now her books are right beside her bed for cozy reading time!
Reading a night time story with Daddy and Oliver - wow they all fit in her bed!
All snuggled up and ready to go to sleep

Here's a little video of her seeing the bed for the first time:

Cute. Her bedding is cute too.
That's funny that it was a punishment to be in her crib.

Awww, she's growing up so quickly! It's cute to watch her climb in and out of the bed.
Hope things continue to go well.

Her room looks great! My grandma and grandpa Klassen had a bed that looked kind of like that when they still lived in their house. The bedding looks amazing! I love it! The picture of Scott reading to the kids is nice. Oliver had the cutest expression on it!

I love Kalia's bedding. The video was so cute.
To answer your question about the craft show... I was at a both with my friend. She was selling really cute dolls she makes, baby blankets, kids book bags and wooden necklaces for kids. I don't think I saw you stop buy but we were kinda right across from that place where I saw you looking at doll furniture!! ;) I stopped by your booth but you were not there BUT I did win your earings from the raffle and I LOVE them!!

I love Kalia's new quilt! It is really beautiful! I'm working on a rag quilt for Selah (at least I should be working on it:) I think I'm almost halfway done. She'll probably get it when she moves to her toddler bed.

Oh my goodness, Kalia looks SO much like you in the picture where she's standing in the crib. I don't know if it's the expression or what, but she's like a mini Brandi! So cute! It's amazing how sleeping in a big girl bed right aways makes her look older . . .

it's almost surreal when they move into big beds...where does the time go?

glad she's adjusting so well.

I just found your B Jewelled web page - I don't know why I hadn't seen it before! But I just wanted to say that you do FABULOUS work! I love how you put pieces together and make them so special. Great work!

I love the bedding. And she stays in there, without one of those guard things, and doesn't fall out? That's amazing... my son is all over the place, I dread the day we move him cause I'm sure I'll wake up to many thuds in teh middle of the night!

Also love the template. I love that website!

I really love her bedding too, it's awesome! So Oliver is moving in with her? I want our kids to share a room (even though we have enough rooms, I think it's good for them), but I'm nervous that one will wake up the other one by hearing them moving around, and then they'll wake up earlier and I'll lose precious sleep....
I think I'll wait til they're both in big boy beds.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes with them sharing a room. (I also love the walls, you're so creative)
