Johari Window

I got this idea from Heather's blog. It's a sort of personality test where you have to select personality traits that you think you have, and then your friends can select the ones they think you have and you see how they match up. Feel free to check out my Johari Window and help me figure out how the world sees me!

Newsflash!

I found out something interesting when I looked at all the info on the diaper bags. the Red bag (#1) is actually the biggest out of all of them! It even has insulated bottle holders on the inside and a change pad. When I read this I was quite intruiged because I, too, had thought it would not be practical, but maybe it is after all. I may order it just to find out - it's a great price, too.

Diaper Bag Dilemna

Okay it's voting time again! This time its all about diaper bags. I can't decide if I should get something colorful and fun, or something a little more plain and versatile. I have shopped around in Winnipeg a bit and haven't found much that I love, so here are some I found on the internet. Let me know what you think. (they are in no particular order)

#1 - Isn't this one so sleek and stylish? The color and clean lines attract me, but I'm not sure how practical it looks.

#2 - I like this one because of the simple colors and how it has a seperate pouch for everything - so organized! I think it's cute how they all have a little label, like "change me" for the diaper pouch, and "feed me" for the bottle holder.

#3 - These are more like traditional diaper bags I suppose. The one I like is the chocolate brown one with the blue accents. I can get initials put on the front or leave it plain.
#4 - I'm not quite sure about this one - does it look too much like a duffel bag? The colors are nice though.
#5 - I love the pattern and colors on this for spring, but would I get sick of it after a while?
#6 - The shape of this one is interesting. I like that it looks more like a big purse than a diaper bag.
#7 - This one is cute and fun, but not too busy. It looks like it would hold a lot of stuff.

"Growth Chart"

This is me at 3 months right when we first told everybody.
Here's my four month pic, and here I think is where it stopped looking like I was just sticking my pot out! (hee hee)
Wow! To me, this is a huge difference from month four to the fifth month. Look at that bubble!
Here's me fully 6 months pregnant - it's starting to look scary that I'm actually still going to grow. I like how I'm pregnant enough now that everyone notices even with my bulky winter coat on.

Happy Valentine's Day! (Okay I know, it's one day belated) Scott and I had an interesting last Valentine's Day as a couple without any kids running around. We started off the morning with heart-shaped pancakes and lit a few candles at supper time, but that's where the romance ended. We had our second Prenatal class yesterday evening - not very romantic that's for sure. We did plan ahead though, and when Scott's hockey game was cancelled on Friday we went out for our Valentine's date then. Dinner and a movie (my choice, and yes - I did make Scott sit through a chic flik!) and we had a great time. Anyway, back to the horrors of last night . . .

I went into the evening with some apprehension because I knew we'd be going over labour and delivery as well as watching a birthing video. Now understand people, I am VERY squeamish and gross out very easily with blood and pain. Up until this point, I have quite much been ignoring the fact that actually delivering the baby is looming ahead of me and like to imagine that one day overnight the baby will just magically transport itself from my tummy into its crib. After yesterday, I will never again go to sleep with that comforting misconception because the video we saw will haunt me in my every nightmare!!! Let's just say I almost had a panic attack while we watched "Deborah" go through over 12 hours of labour in the hospital, and yes - I did turn away every time they showed, well, you know. I did relax afterward, though when we went through the focus and relaxation techniques and things the partner can do to help. Scott was very encouraging too - he assured me that just because the woman on the video had a terrible time did not mean that I would go through the same thing. Everyone is different and we won't know till we get there. He is so great for me - I have a feeling he'll be able to make the delivery a lot more calming and pleasant for me than if he wasn't there. I really just have to give my fears over to God and let him be in control (He's going to be anyways so I may as well roll with it).

Ah yes, I cannot close without updating you all about our talkative little friend from last week's class. We had a different health nurse this week and she was better with either ignoring this woman, or just barrelling through as she tried to stutter out her comments for everything. She did manage to weasel her way in more than enough times though. And I was not the only one who began to get annoyed - I heard one girl say to her husband "it she opens her mouth one more time . . ." And yes, she did overshare about a few things but I won't put you all through the misery of hearing them - let's just say some of the things she shared about herself we DID NOT want to picture. Plus, she loved repeating almost word for word what the health nurse told us as if it were her own unique revelation about pregnancy and labour. I'll have to pray extra hard for patience on the Tuesday's to come!

Oh and one last thing! I found out yesterday that I've actually been having Braxton Hicks Contractions ALREADY! We were talking about them yesterday in class, and the more she described, the more I thought "Oh, so that's what that is . . ." and she said they can start any time in the third trimester so there you go!

6 Month Pic

I guess I'm posting this a little late, but here it is! I can't believe that I'm actually going to get bigger than this yet!

Preparing for Peanut

Yesterday evening we had our first Prenatal class! It's exciting to have all these things happening to show that Peanut is coming soon. The class was fairly interesting, although we went mostly over the first trimester, which I am obviously through. The only downside was a woman in her second pregnancy that was very . . . um . . . well, she talked a lot! She told us all about her gas, and even decided we all needed to see her nursing bra ('cause we don't know what they look like???) I dread what she's all going to share when we get into the labour discussions. Yikes! Oh well, at least Scott and I got a good laugh afterward. So there are six of us pregnant women in total, so the class is a nice size. I'm a bit nervous for next week because we are watching a video and I am pretty squeamish about fake gross stuff (like in movies or TV) so who knows if I'll be able to handle live and real labour - especially knowing it will happen to me in three months! Oh the terrors!
