Our Cozy Little Cabin

Off to the Cabin!

Kalia went on her first vacation last weekend to the cabin! We went with my family after the guys were done work and spent a (mostly) relaxing weekend in the warm weather. The water pump was wrecked so the guys had to boat out and fix it (see picture above). We went on a few walks, sat in the sun, and I even braved the cold water for a refreshing swim. The guys fished, and we all had naps. It was great and I can't wait to go again! Kalia seemed to enjoy it - when we got there she was wide awake, looking all around at the cabin. The first night Kalia was up a lot, but then for the second night we put her in her stroller to sleep instead of her bassinet, and she slept SO well that we've been putting her in there to sleep ever since. This way we can still have her in our room because we're not quite ready to put her in the nursery for night yet. Some advice - when did some of you make the move?

A Special Visit

My friend Allison came out from Saskatchewan this weekend, and since we were off to the cabin, she came over on Friday morning along with Keira and Erica. We had a yummy brunch of waffles, and then spent the afternoon hanging out and went for a walk in the heat. Ally hadn't seen Kalia yet so it was especially exciting to see her. I wish she lived closer so we could get togehter more often. She was one of my bridesmaids so it makes me happy that we do still stay in touch and she's one of those friends that even if you don't see eachother often, it feels so natural to be together.

Happy One Month Birthday Kalia!!

Saturday, May 27th was Kalia's one month birthday!! To celebrate, we took her to Sears and got family pictures taken. (I'll post them when we have them developed) It was a good experience and she was very well behaved until she got hungry!! Luckily, we were the last appointment of the day, so the photographer let us take our time and I fed her before we finished taking all the pictures. Because I know we won't be taking professional pictures every month, I decided to start a little picture tradition for with a sign and balloons every time she turns another month older. I got the idea from my mom, who did this with Cristina. Here are some of my favorite ones.

Doesn't it look almost like she's holding up a 'one' with her fingers? What a smart girl!

Finally at the end she noticed the balloon and started to play with it! It was so cute how she smiled at how it bounced up and down.

More Shower Pics

Yawn! What a long day!

Me with my mom and sisters (and Kalia of course)

So sweet! Megan finally got her turn to hold Kalia - she even brought her own present to the shower - a picture she drew with a cute message on the back. What a sweetie. Little Kalia slept almost the entire time throughout both of the showers. I was so proud of how relaxed she was.
Some of my other young married friends. Heather (right) is expecting a baby this year too!

My friend Christy from college - it was so special of her to come out for the shower!

Getting a little kiss from future boyfriend, Liam!

Poor Moms! They put this fun sign at the end of the driveway with a bunch of balloons, and they all busted but one!

Kalia's HUGE and Awesome Baby Shower

Kalia's Nana and Grammy threw her an amazing shower last Friday! It was an open house in the afternoon from 2-4 and in the evening from 7-9. There were nearly a hundred people in total!!! It was crazy, but it was really fun too. It was great to show off my bundle of joy to all the people who hadn't seen her yet, but half the time I wasn't even anywhere near her because she was being passed all around and I was sitting down opening the ton of gifts that she got! It was fun opening so many wonderful and adorable presents, but I did miss her! Everything was so beautifully decorated and coordinated from the pink roses right down to the pink jelly bellies, soother candies, and "It's a Girl" mints! The plastic cups even said 'baby' and all of the food was pink and beautiful!! My moms put in a lot of hard work but I appreciated every little detail. I couldn't have imagined anything better - I think it was the best shower ever!
Notice the rack full of clothes in the background?! That was only from the afternoon shower! And look at the cute ladybugs stuck onto the flower pedals.

Everything was so beautifully decorated and set up. The photo board was put together by my mom and to my surprise I had never seen most of the pictures! She admitted to sneakily taking pics every time I was out of the room so she could surprise me.
