Kalia Rose

Kalia has brought such joy to my life in so many different ways. She is so full of energy and fun, it seems like we never stop moving! Chatterbox would definitely be a word I would use to describe her! She will repeat anything, and always seems to use her words and phrases in the right context even if she's only heard them once or twice. She also has really good pronunciation and loves speaking in full sentances rather than a word or two at a time. For example, if I ask her if she'd like to go outside, instead of just saying 'yes', she says 'yes, I would like to go outside'! I love that she is so full of smiles and snuggles, too! She loves to just come and give a squeeze or a smooch, or to sit on my lap for a long time, just content to be with me. She is such a great big sister to Oliver! Every morning, the first words out of her mouth after "I waked up" are "Mommy can I give Oliver kiss?" She is always talking about how cute he is and loves to tell him how much she loves him. She would snuggle him and climb all over him all day if I would let :) She is so pleased when he smiles at her and coos. She is dealing very well with the change of a new baby, although sometimes when I haven't had much attention for her she does get into trouble . . . but what toddler doesn't? I have also noticed that she is a bit of a perfectionist. Anything that she sees another kid or even an adult do, she tries to mimic. She thinks that she should be able to do everything perfectly on the first try, and so she sometimes gets stressed out if it doesn't work and she does not like to ask for help. If we offer she says that no, she will do it by herself. She usually just keeps trying until she gets it. She is such a social butterfly as well! She would love if every day was an outing or a playdate, but is also content to spend most of the day outside at home. Although she loves adventure, she also has a very cautious side with things that she is unsure of. Whereas last summer she was fearless on the farm, this year it took her a little bit to be comfortable enough with all of the big equiptment and ask for rides. It is so fun watching her grow and change and seeing all of these different parts of her personality emerge. I sure love my little princess to bits!

My Two Cuties!

Here are just a few pictures that I've snapped of Kalia and Oliver over the last few days. We were so excited to pull out the pool and sprinkler yesterday in the HOT sun! Finally some nice weather!! I have a bunch of pictures that I want to post of both of them yet from a couple of little photoshoots that I did, and I also want to write a bit about how things have been going here with two kids and what we are all up to. I'll try to get to that this week yet. For now, I hope you enjoy all of the pictures

Life With Oliver J

Life has sure been different (but fun) in the last month with our little boy! I still can't believe that I have a boy!! He is just such a good little guy and so relaxed. He sleeps most of the day away but he sure grunts and sighs alot while he does it! (Which sometimes gets a little annoying when I'm trying to sleep at night . . .) For the first week or two he had his days and nights pretty mixed up which made for one tired mommy. It's sure something to get used to staying up late with a newborn and then having to get up early with the older one. Scott stayed home from work for the first week though which was a HUGE help with the adjustment. He and Kalia had a lot of really great bonding time while I tried to figure out what to do with my newborn :) One thing I love about Oliver is that he hardly ever cries. When he needs a diaper or is hungry he fusses for a while and if he's being ignored he cries a bit, but that's really all. Even when he gets up at night he only cries if I'm taking too long to change his diaper before feeding him. I'm not trying to make everything sound perfect, but I do feel like God is blessing me with an amazing experience with learning how to parent two children. Kalia has been great for the most part, but I do notice a little attitude if I haven't had tons of free time for her in a day. It's been fun watching the two of them interact with eachother though. It's so interesting how with Kalia I just thought of her how she was as a newborn, but now with Oliver being my second, I constantly find myself wondering what his personality will be like and how he will look as he gets bigger! It's not that I'm not enjoying the newborn stage, it's just that after seeing my first little baby grow up and change in front of my eyes, it makes me wonder how the second one will. And which traits that he has as a newborn will stay with him. Well I guess that's all for now - I'll try to post again soon of some pictures with "mom and dad"!

Kalia and Oliver

Just wanted to post a few quick pictures seeing as I haven't for a couple of weeks! Here is Kalia with her baby brother that she loves so much and constantly wants to hold and snuggle with and smother with kisses! She always talks about how cute he is and wants us to notice every little thing that he is doing. She is doing so well as a big sister - what an answer to prayer!
