How Our Little Girl Came Into This World

On Wednesday, April 26, Scott and I went off to Winnipeg to pick up a rocking chair for the nursery and go out for supper on a last "pre-baby" date. Little did we know that our little Peanut was waiting and ready to join us!! Thursday, April 27 (only 2 days after my due date) I woke up from my contrations just after 2:00 am. By a quarter to three, I thought it was time Scott knew what was going on so I woke him up. My contractions were only 3-5 minutes apart and VERY intense. Unsure what to do, I called the hospital. "Just relax!" they told me, "this is your first pregnancy and you don't want to spend hours in the hospital. Try taking a bath to ease the pain." Ha! So, Scott and I took the advice of the hospital staff and took our time at home. I had my bath, Scott showered and shaved. By 4:30, my contractions were only 2 minutes apart, and I couldn't take the pain any longer and told Scott we HAD to go in NOW!! So off we went to the hospital (about at 45 minute drive) and arrived shortly after 5:00. They had to give Scott the paperwork to sign in because I was having conctrations right on top of eachother and could hardly move - he had to wheel me upstairs in a wheelchair. So they sent me to a room, hooked me up to heart moniters and checked to see how far along I was. To everyone's surprise, they told me I was ready to push!! They called the Doctor, then told me to push more gently so he'd make it on time, everything was so fast that I couldn't even get anything for pain. Well, the doctor got there just in time, and little Kalia Rose was born at 6:07 am!! It felt so natural to hear them say "it's a girl!" (Scott knew it all along!) and we fell in love with our tiny baby the moment we saw her. The doctors took guesses at her weight and I was shocked to hear she was only 6 pounds, 15.8 ounces and 20 inches long. Less than an hour later, we excitedly called our families and friends to share the news. What a joy she brought into our lives - we love her more than we could have ever imagined!

Hi Brandi Can you believe Kalia Rose is having her 1 week bday today? Everybody is talking about your fast delivery and concerned for your next delivery (maybe it's a little soon to talk about that!)xoxo
