We have lost a beloved family member that has been a part of our lives for 11 years, and she was a dog named Chloe. She was put down last week Tuesday, and already it feels so strange to go to mom and dad's without seeing her scampering towards us as we drive up. She was very well trained and such a good girl. Kalia misses her too! She loved the "puppy" and would often toddle over to the entrance and wait there until someone would open the door and let her see Chloe. Then, she would make little "whoof" noises at her and it was so cute the way they bonded. We were just starting to let Kalia give treats to Chloe also, and they both found it (and eachother) very fascinating. I am sad that Chloe will not be there for Kalia to play with as she grows up. Funny how it feels like a part of our family is missing. Jenna called me crying after mom told her on Tuesday night, and I got a little teary eyed when Scott and Kalia and I watched the Fox and the Hound the next evening. Poor Chloe. She had been sick for a while and her fur was falling off so we could hardly let her outside anymore and she had to stay cooped up in the garage. The vet was no help either!! We kept hoping she would get better because she was still her usual smart, spunky self, but then at the beginning of last week she took a turn for the worse and Dad knew it was time to say goodbye to our sweet little doggie. Farewell, Chloe - we love you!!

Its so true- A dog that's so faithful and has been in the family for so long just becomes one of the family memebers. I cried for every dog I lost...are they going to get another dog?
Probably not for a while. It's sad
Wendell's parents had to put down their dog in fall. They had Pepper for over 15 years. It was a little different going there with a different dog. Naida is a good dog, but just not Pepper.
Aww I remember that dog! Very sparky personality. Pets are like a part of the family. I have had devestating losses in that department. I am sorry for this sad time. 11 yrs is a long time.
Thanks for the tribute to Chloe...she always had that intelligent knowing look on her face & we'll all miss her...especially @ the cottage. I'm happy you found the pictures!
Ok, first of all I am sorry to hear about your puppy. I don`t actually know what it feels like to loose a dog but just thinking about Amor dying brings tears to my eyes so I can only imagine. Love ya!
I'm so sorry to hear about Chloe. I remember her riding with your mom & me on the paddle boat at the lake and how she wanted to get off but didn't dare jump in the water. Walks without her won't be the same ... . A. Liz
Chloe was on a very short list of dogs that I was not scared of! (a list of 2 to be exact!) I will miss her scampering around at family gatherings and at girls weekend at the cabin. It was always nice to have her walk along with us, we were always so entertained by her!
Aww, I'm glad you found a picture of Kalia with Chloe!! I have yet to e-mail you the ones I have from the cabin last summer....I will do that sometime soon!
Chloe was a great dog. And the thing that makes that statement SO true is that even the non-animal-lovers liked her ;) Even my MOM liked her!! Best dog I've ever known too!
Thanks for all your care and understanding about Chloe! She was so special, I can't imagine a better dog.
Boo! I'm sad. Chloe's so connected with many of the memories I have of childhood - coming over to your place after school and playing with her. I wasn't allowed to have a dog so being able to play with Chloe eased some of that bitterness.
I just noticed this but it looks like in the pictures that Chloe is smiling!
thanks for the tribute to our family's best friend!!! such a great picture... so good to remember her by! i loved that girl... and have the fondest memories (ex->us teaching chloe how to "sing" and "dance"!) all dogs go to heaven!!!
