Last week Wednesday, Kalia had her first sleepover at Nana's!! Scott had a three day conference for work in Winnipeg, so they had paid for a hotel room the night after the banquet. I know what some of you are thinking . . . she's ten months old and you've never left her for the night?! Well, there is an explanation for that. See, she has some strange aversion to drinking more than one or two ounces out of a cup or bottle! We just can't get her to buckle down and guzzle. That, and her nights have progressively been getting worse and worse. We'd had her sleeping fairly well by putting herself back to sleep when she got up at night, but then she started standing up and not knowing how to lie herself back down. This was a disaster!!! I felt discouraged and upset and just all around worn out. We had been planning to take her along to the hotel and just have my mom watch her until the banquet was over but then she came to the rescue and said she was up for the challenge of all night, whether she slept or not! Mom saw how discouraged I'd been getting, and also how anxious I was about weaning. I'm to the point where I'd like to stop breastfeeding, I just wasn't sure how Kalia would get any drink in her or if she'd be able to deal with the change at this point, because she can be very clingy. So two nights before the big night, I prayed, "God, please help her to sleep well for me tonight and even better for mom tomorrow, so I don't have to feel so upset about leaving her." (the night before, I had been on her floor for 1 1/2 hours to lie her down every time she stood up) Well, God came through huge! She only woke up one time that night and put herself back to sleep the first time after I laid her back down. So off I went to the city to meet Scott Wednesday evening. The banquet was at seven, and went past 11:30 with the entertainment (they had a hypnotist . . . very interesting). I called mom to see how Kalia had gone to sleep, but my little night owl was still up (typical) and just getting ready to go down. So I actually had a relaxing night and when Scott got up in the morning I did too and zipped home to my baby. Sometimes she gets up at 6 or 7 and I usually feed her and put her back to sleep, so I was a bit anxious to only be getting there at 9:30. Well, the little angel had just woken up and was happy as can be! She had had a great night, and had gone to bed nicely too! I love my mom!! Ever since then her nights have been way better and she's even learned to lie herself back down. Now I feel refreshed and better about weaning also. I've started the process this week. It feels good having had the first night to myself in 10 months, that's for sure!!!

I was wondering how your night went last Wednesday...I'm so glad it well for you. You and Scott will have to have more outings now that Kalia is on the road to being weaned! You have an awesome mom. I'm so happy your nights are going better too! Man, I'll bet it feels nice to have your body back to yourself...Love ya!
Moms are the best...they just seem to know when to step in :) I'm glad your nights are getting better!! & you know I'm praying for them to continue for you!!
Wow, I congratulate you for breast feeding for 10 months. I barley got through 2 exclusively. I had hopes of sticking to it for 6 months but my boy just grew up too fast. Walking fully by 9 months etc. I hope to give it a go for longer next time around whenever that is.
Anyway, I am so glad that she had a good night with your mom. Mom's are great! I hope you 2 have more nights 'alone' in the near future. you have the most beautiful girl!
I'm so happy for you!
And . . . hypnotist?!? That's hilarious!
Kalia's pigtails are too cute! Glad you had a fun night and all went well.
